Postman!! Lock your children. Hide your doors.

We just finished Technopoly, written by Neil Postman. Now I cannot tell a lie, it was dull. I mean to some people I'm sure it was very interesting, but I have never been a fan of non-fiction (as I said in my other post). His thoughts were smart and well thought out, but I never understood them 'cause he used big words and I skimmed the pages rather fast. But when I did pick up on some of his ideas I realized that I didn't really care. Jeez, this is like hate mail. But no, I don't mean this to be so harsh. I'm sure me and Postman could be great buddies, we'd go hang out downtown and such. But as his book goes, not for me. As I said earlier, I felt it to be a smart and insightful look into technology and its use/role in our everyday lives. But I guess I'd rather just watch a movie. Sorry Neil.

What it about? Plath class... Tech foo'

Well, I feel Mrs. Plath's class "Response to Modernization: Literature" is about the relationship between technology and the community. Wowzers. My words? No, that's how Mrs. Plath describes it. But I do agree, recently we've been learning about technology and its use in our everyday life, hence; community. We just finished Technopoly by the ever annoying Postman. Sorry, too harsh. I'm sure he's a rad dude. But the book was just a little too dry for me, I am not a fan of non-fiction. What I am looking forward to is the tech-free challenge, this is a project connecting technology and community, hmm, seems to fit well in this class. The challenge is to go a day or two without using certain types of technology/electricity, and me and my two good buddies (Maxwell and Nicholas) are going to do the 1850's challenge; no electricity at all! Spooky. But we are granted one exception, instead of blogging, we're allowed to use a camera to document the manly adventure. I look forward to this because we are gonna camp in the woods and do everything old school, but also hopefully, we'll get a good grade. Maybe, if it all works out, I'll post the video up on my blog. Who knows...
